This training course familiarizes attendees with the NAP program. It demonstrates the principles of calculating network availability, and provides an introduction to building a NAP project using Parts Libraries, Block Libraries, and both simple and complex Network diagrams.
Some of the topics covered include:
- Reliability Block Diagrams. An introduction to the logical structures on which NAP is based.
- Network Diagrams and Paths. The differences between simple and complex network diagrams, and introducing the idea of paths from source to target nodes.
- Minimal cut-sets. How NAP calculates the combinations of failures based upon the paths from source to target.
- Calculating network unavailability and failure frequency. Using boolean algebra, the cut-sets, and the failure rates of individual network components to determine overall reliability for the project as a whole.
- Parts library. Learning how to store parts data, group parts, and create lists of alternate parts.
- Block library. How to create commonly used network structures just once.
- Networks. General usage of the network structure. How to build a network, assign failure rates, and analyze to determine reliability.
