Setting the Page Layout
The page setup is common to all report types. You can easily assign the page setup information that includes the paper size, orientation, margins, units and drawing grid spacing for the report. The report may be displayed and printed in either landscape or portrait mode.
In addition to the page setup details the following page elements are common to all report types:
- Header and footer
- Text boxes
- Pictures
- Report macros
Placing Elements onto the Page
The header and footer allow you to define areas at the top and bottom of each page in which descriptive text may be inserted. The color of the text can be selected. You have complete control of the font specification for the header or footer text. The user can define a border thickness and color for the header or footer areas. The header or footer areas can be filled with a color of your choice.
Text boxes can be used in addition to the report header and footer options. Text boxes can be positioned anywhere inside the report margins. You can alter the text, justification and line spacing of a text box. The color of the text can also be chosen. The font family for the text box text can be chosen from the standard Windows font dialog. You can alter the border width, border position, border color and background fill of a text box.
Pictures can be positioned anywhere inside the report margins. These pictures will enhance to the appearance of your reports by making them more colorful and interesting. Most of the commonly used image file types can be used as a source of the pictures.
Report macros allow user to include report generator automatically generated text in the header, footer and text boxes. Macros include the date, time, page count, page number, report name, average field value, minimum field value, maximum field value, and sum of a field value.
